Discovery Channel's HUMAN BODY Tops Docs at SkyPerfect TV Awards in Tokyo
Discovery Channel's HUMAN BODY series, which aired in Japan in February, was named Best Documentary at the inaugural SkyPerfect TV Awards held in Tokyo on November 25. The winners are chosen through votes cast by SkyPerfect's 3.6 million subscribers. Senior industry leaders and local celebrities were among the guests who attended the ceremony, which was broadcast live from the Tokyo Dome.
Discovery also celebrated another "win" recently, with the distribution for Discovery Channel in Japan exceeding 6.5 million households as of end September. In the most recent RVCS ratings survey in October, Discovery Channel achieved its highest reach figure (20%) since the inception of the survey a year ago, and 50% month-on-month growth in JCOM viewership following the launch of Discovery Channel Hi Vision.
